Dharma Dreams Vocational Center

Dharma Dreams Vocational Center is a nonprofit vocational and life skills program based in Hanover, Massachusetts, serving young adults ages 18–26 with moderate cognitive disabilities. Our mission is to help students build practical job skills in the trades, confidence, independence, emotional regulation, and workplace readiness through hands-on vocational training and supportive learning experiences. The program was created in response to the growing need for meaningful transition opportunities for young adults as they move beyond high school and into adulthood. Many families struggle to find programs that combine practical workforce preparation, life skills development, communication skills, confidence-building, and supportive real-world learning experiences. Dharma Dreams offers hands-on exposure to vocational areas such as landscaping and grounds maintenance, painting and surface preparation, workplace professionalism, entrepreneurship basics, and life skills training. Students also learn mind-body techniques that support focus, confidence, emotional regulation, stress management, and workplace success. Our introductory summer program, launching at the end of July, is designed to help students and families become familiar with the program and explore vocational interests before participating in longer-term programming. Long-term programming focuses on helping students develop greater independence, workplace readiness, responsibility, confidence, and practical trade skills through structured, hands-on learning experiences. Dharma Dreams Vocational Center aims to create supportive pathways toward greater independence, meaningful employment opportunities, and a stronger sense of purpose while helping young adults feel valued, capable, and connected to their future potential.

U.S. Senator Scott Brown will make a visit to the Linden Ponds retirement community this weekend to campaign for his upcoming election against Elizabeth Warren. Brown's visit comes just a month after Warren spoke to LP residents about her views on the November election.  The Linden Ponds' Political Interest Group, made up of all residents, invited each senate candidate to the Hingham senior community. Political Interest Chairman Marty Saunders said the visit benefits each candidate, as the majority of Linden Ponds residents are registered as Undecided or Independent. Linden Ponds has 324 registered Democrats, 185 registered Republicans and 586 registered voters who are not affiliated with either party, according to Saunders.  The senior living community also  has voting booths right on its campus and sees a 87 percent voter turnout from its residents.  Saunders said she the LP community was very impressed by Warren's Aug. 14 visit and even residents who were registered, as Republicans were pleased that she made an appearance. "She was very warm, very comfortable, and very natural,"  Saunders said. "Her graciousness stuck out." Brown's visit is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 and only Linden Ponds residents and staff are invited.
