Selectmen: Street Pole Approved for Farmer's Market
The evening's full agenda brought guests from the Farmer's Market and National Grid.
A new street pole will be installed on Otis Street to help refrigerate the foods of the Saturday in Hingham.
On Tuesday night, the Selectmen approved the new pole which will supply wiring and electricity for the vendors of the farmer's market.
The pole was requested by the Farmer's Market. A representative of the Market explained that vendors selling perishables need refrigeration, and although loud generators have been rented in the past, they will not be sufficient for permanent use.
“I think we should be taking poles down not adding poles to our inventory,” said Selectman Bruce Rabuffo. However in this instance, Rabuffo explained that it will “help facilitate the existing Farmer’s Market and facilitate revenue to the bathing house, that is important.”
Also at Tuesday's meeting, a vote was passed to approve a temporary liquor license for the fundraising event at at the on July 30 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
