Selectmen to Decide on Special Town Meeting Tonight

Tonight's meeting will be held at the Central Meeting Room to make room for the large number of residents expected to attend.

The Board of Selectmen will meet tonight at 7:00 p.m. on the second floor of the in the Central Meeting Room.  At the meeting the selectmen will decide if Hingham will have a Special Town Meeting in the fall to vote on the Middle School Project.

Last week, the Massachusetts School Building Authority advised the School Building Committee that the reimbursement rate applied to the Middle School project will be __

This will mean that out of an estimated total project budget of $61,749,189, the net cost to taxpayers could be $35,587,012 which includes the $2,113,500 on items that will not be reimbursed by the MSBA.

These figures will now be included in the Warrant Article that has been drafted in anticipation of the Special Town Meeting that will be decided upon by Selectmen tonight. The total project cost will be inserted and the article contains language with regard to the reimbursement rate reflecting the net cost to taxpayers.

At last Tuesday's  meeting, the Hingham Selectmen have decided to hold off their vote for a special town meeting after __ signed by 250 residents who oppose plans to build a new Middle School building.
