South Shore Bank & South Shore Chamber Launch “Leadership South Shore” Program
New program is designed to develop effective, knowledgeable, and involved community leaders
South Shore Bank and the South Shore Chamber of Commerce have joined forces to offer “Leadership South Shore,” a new program designed to develop effective, knowledgeable, and involved community leaders in the region.
Through a five-month experiential learning program, participants will discover how their communities function and how they can become a positive catalyst for change. By taking part in dynamic, behind-the-scenes programming focused on direct exposure, interaction and activities in various aspects of the community, participants will build and foster both personal and professional relationships.
The first program of its kind in the area, Leadership South Shore will begin in January 2017 with a one-day opening retreat where program participants will learn how to work as a team. This will be followed by five monthly, day-long sessions spent exploring and learning about South Shore community issues with themes around history, education, justice, health and human services, and arts and culture.

Commenting
on the motivation for launching Leadership South Shore, South Shore Bank
President and CEO James Dunphy said, “Developing leaders who understand the
whole community – and how each area has an impact on the outcomes of other
parts of the community – is important to help our communities thrive and
prosper.”
“The Chamber is seeing two positive trends,” said Peter Forman, President and CEO of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce. “There are more organizational leaders arriving on the South Shore who are not from the South Shore. We also see greater awareness of the connection between being an effective organizational leader and being more aware of the larger community outside of their organization. Leadership South Shore offers a valuable opportunity to learn about the community and leadership from different perspectives.”
