South Shore Conservatory Auditioning for Bay Youth Symphony and Pure Treble and Pure Harmony Choruses
Chorus and orchestra programs start rehearsals in September

During the month of August South Shore Conservatory (SSC) will hold auditions for singers interested in joining the 2015/16 season of Pure Treble or Pure Harmony children’s choruses or instrumentalists interested in joining Bay Youth Symphony.
Pure Treble and Pure Harmony are auditioned choruses designed to educate and inspire children through a high quality choral experience while nurturing musicianship, responsibility, team work, confidence and joy. Pure Treble, under the direction of Katrina Potts, is for students in grades two through five, while Pure Harmony, under the direction of Brandon Coon, is for students in grades six through nine. These choruses perform at SSC and during the 2014/2015 season they performed at the Plymouth North High School Performing Arts Center with the African Children’s Choir and at Memorial Hall with the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra.
Auditions for Pure Treble and Pure Harmony are on Monday, August 31, from 5 to 8 pm at the Ellison Center for the Arts, 64 St. George Street in Duxbury. Students interested in auditioning should contact Nancy Meredith at n.meredith@sscmusic.org or at 781.934.2731, ext. 11.

Bay Youth Symphony (BaYS), SSC’s youth orchestra program, brings together string, wind and percussion students from the South Shore, to learn, grow and perform as a community of musicians. Both its Symphony and Repertory ensembles have openings for the 2015/16 season. Elijah Langille is the conductor of Repertory. Symphony, under the direction of Joan Landry, performed with the Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) during the last season, as well as at the 100th anniversary of the Cape Cod Canal last summer. PPO conductor, Steven Karidoyanes, is BaYS Artistic Advisor. BaYS Symphony performs bi-annually with the PPO.
BaYS auditions will be held Tuesday, August 18, 6 to 8 pm, at the Ellison Center for the Arts in Duxbury. Instrumentalists interested in auditioning for BaYS may arrange an audition time by visiting www.sscmusic.org/orchestra.html and completing the audition request form or by contacting BaYS Managing Director, Candace Kniffen at c.kniffen@sscmusic.org or 781.749.7565, ext. 32. Auditions are ongoing throughout the year.
