South Shore Conservatory Jazz/Rock/Pop Musicians Present Jazz at the Academy
The second preview event of the annual Hingham Jazz Festival
South Shore Conservatory (SSC) invites jazz lovers to the second Hingham Jazz Festival (HJF) preview event this year, Jazz at the Academy, on Saturday, April 23, 6:30 pm at Derby Academy’s Healey Family Center for Innovation, 56 Burditt Street, Hingham.
Presented in collaboration with Hingham Historical Society and Derby Academy, Jazz at the Academy features an intimate and unplugged mixture of traditional classic pop/rock tunes (think Beatles), smooth ballads with unique twists, jazz and Latin favorites, and original compositions. The evening starts with cocktails at 6:30 pm, followed by the concert from 7 to 9 pm.
Guests will savor the music while sitting at café tables, and throughout the evening enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by JAM Gourmet Foods and Catering. Beer and wine are included in the ticket price.

Jazz/Rock/Pop faculty members performing include Ed Broms on piano and bass guitar, Anthony Geraci on piano, Lorna Jane Norris on vocals, John McCarthy, on guitar and vocals, David Moorhead on guitar, Chris Rathbun on upright bass, Trevor Kellum on saxophone, and Ed Sorrentino on drums.

Another HJF preview appearance features SSC’s JRP Faculty Quartet performing in Hingham Square on Saturday, May 21 as part of the town’s Taste of Hingham event.
