South Shore Conservatory Presents Hingham Jazz Festival Preview Concert

A sneak peek of a weekend of amazing jazz, rock and pop

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) invites jazz, rock and pop (JRP) lovers to enjoy a satisfying sampling of their upcoming jazz festival with a special Hingham Jazz Festival Preview Concert on Saturday, April 25, 7 pm at Hingham Historic Society’s Old Derby Academy, 34 Main Street, Hingham.

Formerly known as Cedar Hill JRP Festival, Hingham Jazz Festival is presented on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, with a special kickoff party on Friday, September 18, and features a weekend of stellar performances by JRP faculty ensembles and jazz, rock and pop greats from all over New England. Last year’s festival featured everything from blue grass, to rock, to alternative, to traditional jazz.

This special preview concert highlights the evolution of jazz, beginning in its infancy in Tin Pan Alley, through the era of the great jazz ladies such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holliday, to today’s modern jazz. In the jazz spirit, this event has two “acts,” the first being cocktails at 6:30 pm, with the second act being two hours of incredible music starting at 7:00 pm. Beer, wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served throughout the event.
