South Shore Conservatory Students Win Awards at Russian Music Competition
First place winners perform at Carnegie Hall
South Shore Conservatory (SSC) congratulates nine of their students who recently won awards in their respective age divisions of the 11th Annual Russian Music Competition, which was held at Steinert Hall in Boston.
This prestigious competition is sponsored by the New Jersey Talented Young Musicians Association, with auditions held in both New Jersey and Massachusetts. Participating students must perform a memorized original selection of any Russian - Soviet composer. The length of the selection is dependent upon the age of the student. First place winners are invited to perform their winning piece at Carnegie Hall, second place winners are invited to perform at Lincoln Center, while third place winners are invited to perform at a select Massachusetts venue.
SSC piano students Karen Ji of Hingham, Miles Morin of Cohasset, and Reagan George of South Easton, all students of SSC piano instructor HuiMin Wang of Norwell, took first place and performed at Carnegie Hall.

Second place winners in their divisions, Ina Cui of Norwell, a Wang piano student, and Ava Hosea of Hanover, a violin student of SSC string faculty member Aleksandra Labinska, performed their winning pieces at Lincoln Center.
Third place winners in their divisions, SSC piano students Aiden Cui of Norwell, Renee Han of Braintree, Amelia Jiang-Yu of Hingham, and Molly Ryan of Scituate, all four of them Wang’s students, performed their winning pieces at First Parish Church in Watertown.

“We are so proud of these students and their teachers. It takes hard work and dedication to prepare for such a specialized competition,” said SSC President Kathy Czerny. “They truly deserve the all recognition they have received. It’s quite an accomplishment.”
