South Shore Conservatory's Chase Away the Winter Blues to Benefit Arts Education
Raises over $100K annually for SSC scholarships, outreach and educational programs, benefiting hundreds of local students
South Shore Conservatory’s (SSC) Chase Away the Winter Blues gala will be held Saturday, January 31, from 7 pm to 12 midnight, at One Conservatory Drive, Hingham. The celebratory evening is filled with music, friendship and generosity. For nine years, the South Shore community has come together to support Chase Away the Winter Blues with the belief that arts education is transformative for all, and should be available to everyone. All proceeds benefit scholarship, outreach and educational programming.
A large SSC committee of trustees, overseers, parents, friends and volunteers work together to put on the “best blues party on the South Shore.” Dozens of local businesses and hundreds of citizens participate in the ‘Blues’ each year. Remarkably, last year the Blues raised over $100,000 for scholarships, outreach and educational programs, benefiting hundreds of students.
SSC believes that everyone, regardless of age, ability or circumstance, can benefit from the transformative nature of music and arts education. Niamh O’Maille, Marketing Manager at Derby Street Shoppes, remarked, “Derby Street Shoppes has been a long-time supporter of South Shore Conservatory, whose dedication to music and arts education in this area is inspiring. By providing scholarships and arts education, we are giving deserving students a gift for life.”
