South Shore Conservatory's Chase Away the Winter Blues to Benefit Arts Education

Raises funds for scholarship, outreach and educational programs, benefiting hundreds of performing arts students

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) is thrilled to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Chase Away the Winter Blues gala. This annual sellout benefit event will be held Saturday, January 30, from 7 pm to 12 midnight, at One Conservatory Drive, Hingham. The celebratory evening is filled with music, friendship and generosity.

In the last ten years, the South Shore community has come together to support Chase Away the Winter Blues with the belief that arts education is truly transformative for all, and should be available to everyone. All proceeds benefit scholarship, outreach and educational programming.

The ‘Blues’ committee, comprised of SSC trustees, overseers, parents, friends and volunteers, is working to roll out the red carpet, allowing SSC to put on the hottest blues party on the South Shore. Dozens of local businesses and hundreds of citizens participate each year. Remarkably, last year the event raised over $130,000 for scholarship, outreach and educational programs, benefiting hundreds of students.

SSC believes that everyone, regardless of age, ability or circumstance, can benefit from the transformative nature of music and arts education. Niamh O’Maille, Marketing Manager at Derby Street Shoppes, remarked, “Congratulations to the South Shore Conservatory on its 10th anniversary! Derby Street Shoppes has been a supporter since the beginning and we continue to support and cherish the wonderful things that the Conservatory accomplishes within our community by giving the gift of music to dedicated students.”

Annually, Chase Away the Winter Blues sells out to over 350 guests enjoying an evening of magnificent music, performed by SSC faculty and the fabulous rhythm and blues band, In the House. This year, the ‘Blues’ goes glamorous with a Red Carpet theme. SSC’s Hingham campus is transformed into several night clubs including the Hollywood Bowl, the Tony Club, Rick’s Café, the Grammy Lounge, and the Vanity Fair After Party. The evening includes a raw bar and hors d’oeuvres, buffet dinner, dessert and beverages. Food and beveragess are underwritten by Derby Street Shoppes, b.good, Burtons Grill, Kate’s Table, Legal C Bar, and White’s Bakery. An extensive silent auction and raffle offer tickets, trips and gifts – something for everyone. Complimentary valet parking is sponsored by VPNE Inc., and dress is black tie.

Chase Away the Winter Blues advance purchase tickets at $125 include an open bar and admission from 7 pm to midnight. Special $250 tickets include admission to the pre-event VIP Reception from 6 to 7 pm. Tickets purchased after January 16 are $150. South Shore Conservatory, (SSC) has been providing access to and enriching the lives of South Shore residents through music and the arts for 45 years.
