South Shore Conservatory's Evenings Under the Stars Presents The Follen Angels

Music favorites from the 50's, 60's and 70's

South Shore Conservatory’s Evenings Under the Stars concert series invites the public to groove to the familiar tunes of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, with a fresh, new sound, as they present The Follen Angels on Saturday, July 18, at 7 pm. This is the second of four EUS Saturday evening open air summer concerts in the Jane Carr Amphitheater at One Conservatory Drive, Hingham.

The Follen Angels are uniquely versatile performers and recording artists with a vast repertoire. Their music gives homage to doo wop and classic rock music from the 50’s, ‘60’s and ‘70’s, with a little American Songbook thrown in for fun.

The heavenly sounds of this innovative seven-piece jazz combo have filled concert halls and radio airwaves, and continue to draw enthusiastic audiences from Scullers Jazz Club and Ryles Jazz Club in the Boston area, to Mechanics Hall in Worcester, the Metropolitan Room and Don’t Tell Mama in New York City, and Columbia Station in Washington DC.

With Hildy Grossman on vocals, Kenneth W. Dantzig on drums, Bob Christopherson on piano, Rick Stone on sax/clarinet, Milt Reder on guitar, and David Gold on bass, this celebrated group just completed their East Coast tour with sold out shows. Hildy has a special touch of telling engaging stories and anecdotes that places the music in context with the era.

Kathy Uek of the Metrowest Daily News had this to say about The Follen Angels: “The angels of jazz have the audience’s feet tappin’ and fingers snappin’.”
