South Shore Families Enjoy Traveling For Summer Vacation

Residents will head all over the country as kids enjoy a break from school.

One Hingham household has a summer full of fun ahead with several vacations that will take them all over the country. The Bennis family recently returned from the Grey Wolf Lodge in the Poconos Mountains where they spent a lot of time in the indoor water park.

Grace, age 9, sported a lime green cast on her arm while she swam as a result of a field day injury. “I had to blow dry my cast after getting out of the water,” she explained.

Their next vacation will consist of a family trip to a ranch in Wyoming, which mom Jillian said she is looking forward to most. While there they will be visiting friends of her husband and also exploring Yellowstone National Park.

The Bennis family will then be traveling to Frost Mountain Yurts in Brownfield, Maine for some hiking. While there, they will also be seeing a Mary Chapin Carpenter concert at the Stone Mountain Arts Center.

When they return home, 11-year-old Catherine will be taking horseback riding lessons at Longmeadow Farm Barn in Scituate, a tradition she has upheld for four years. Meanwhile, Grace will be attending camp through the Hingham Recreational Department.

Fellow South Shore residents, Elaine, Zach, and Nick Glass of Weymouth will be traveling to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire for their summer vacation. This annual outgoing joins several families under one rented roof. While there they enjoy kayaking, fishing, and even bring a piece of home with an Xbox.

Elaine said, “We will be leaving the hockey sticks at home for this trip.” Both Zach, age 8 and Nick, 12, play for the South Shore Conquistadors.

These brothers also plan to spend time this summer at the Rockland Golf Course.

A Scituate family plans to leave this Saturday for a ten-day vacation to the Finger Lakes in upstate New York. Carlos, Shawn, Katie, Alec, and Isabel Perez-Albuerne will enjoy boating, swimming, tubing, and hiking while away from home.

Isabel, age 6,  said she is most excited to spend time with her three cousins while on vacation. Alec enjoys swimming at the beaches while away and his local YMCA at home. When they return from the trip Katie will continue with the horseback riding lessons she began one year ago.

Their mother Shawn said she is just happy, “being at home with the kids and leaving behind the school schedule.”

She looks forward to spending time at the beach and walking her two dogs at
