South Shore YMCA Strypers swim team tops nation, New England at 7th annual Thanksgiving Invitational
Barao, #1 time in U.S. for 13y/o; Toepfer(s), Mooers, Barrett, Mozoki, Hagar, Tran and Dobrindt among top swimmers in their age groups in NE
The South Shore YMCA Strypers swim team hosted over 700 swimmers last weekend at its 7th Annual Thanksgiving Invitational. Held at the SSYS High Performance Swim Center in Quincy, the Strypers turned in some of the fastest times in New England swimming this season, including one that ranks #1 in the U.S.
Top performances with significant time improvements were turned in by Strypers, including:
Will Barao, 13, Hingham

Barao’s time of 16:28.09 in the 1650 Freestyle puts him in the #1 ranking position in the U.S. for his age by a full 13 seconds.
Graham Barrett, 16, Hingham

With a 1650 Freestyle time of 16:18.14, Barrett ranks #5 in New England in Open boys.
Fiona Mooers, 11, Hingham
Mooers swam a 5:10:14 400 Yard which ranks #2 in New England for her age.
Braintree:
- Nicholas Toepfer, 12
1650 Freestyle time of 18:02.12 ranks #1 in NE for his age and #12 in the US. Dropped 28.01 seconds.
- Abby Toepfer, 10
400 IM time of 5:46.51 ranks #1 in New England for her age. Dropped 9.81 seconds.
- Tommy Hagar, 10
50 Butterfly time of 31.94 ranks #2 in New England for his age. Dropped .21 sec. 100 Backstroke time of 1:14.39 is #7 in New England for his age. Dropped .77 second.
Marshfield:
- Brock Mozoki, 10
50 Freestyle time of 28.31 ranks #2 in New England for his age. Dropped .79 seconds. 100 IM time of 1:13.71 ranks 5th in New England for his age. Dropped 3.57 seconds.
Milton:
- Andrew Tran, 10
1650 time of 23.33.55 ranks first in New England for his age. 100 Breaststroke time of 1:28.20 ranks #12 in New England for his age.
- Emily Dobrindt, 12
1650 time of 19:37.14 ranks #5 in New England for her age. Dropped 16.94 seconds.
