Suspect Connected to Multiple Hingham Break-Ins Arrested on Five Felony Charges
Police arrested a Dorchester man connected two a pair of break-ins from November.

A Dorchester man has been arrested by Hingham Police on five felony charges.
Robert J. Barr, 45, of Dorchester, is charged with breaking and entering in the daytime and larceny from a building for a break-in on Foley Beach Road. The other three charges, breaking and entering in the daytime, larceny from a building, and malicious or wanton damage of property (door) stem from a break-in on Harbor View Drive according to a press release from Hingham Police.
A third house break-in is under investigation with no charges currently being pressed from the incident.

According to police, the first two break-ins happened on Nov. 18. Barr allegedly entered the house on Foley Beach Road between 9 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. through an unlocked front door and took jewelry from the home. During this time, a witness noticed a beige colored SUV in the driveway and saw a man carrying a clipboard walking in the yard.
The second break-in on Harbor View Drive occurred between 9 a.m. - 5:35 p.m. with the suspect entering the home by forcing open the front door using a tool around the deadbolt lock. Like the previous break-in, jewelry was stolen from the home and a witness noticed a man getting out of a beige colored SUV between 9:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.

After receiving information from residents and other police departments, police were able to identify the license plate and the owner of the vehicle, a Dorchester woman. Further investigation led detectives to identifying Barr at the same Dorchester address.
Police were able to obtain an arrest warrant on Dec. 11, with an arrest occurring the next day.
Barr is being held without bail at the Plymouth County House of Correction. He will be arraigned at Hingham District Court on Dec. 15.
