Theater Shooting Doesn't Prevent Moviegoers From Seeing Batman in Hingham
In Hingham, movie lovers were not afraid to see Batman on Friday, despite the shooting in Colorado.
Just 12 hours removed from one of the worst shootings in America’s history, Weymouth residents Kyle Hines and Olivia Powers had no fears about stepping into the Hingham Shipyard Patriot Cinemas to see the newest Batman movie on Friday afternoon.
“We’re not worried,” Hines said.
At the movie’s opening show at midnight Friday in Aurora, Colorado, a gunman wearing a gas mask set off an unknown gas and fired into a crowded movie, killing 12 people and injuring at least 59 others.

But Weymouth resident Matt Lefsky, age 42, said incidents like this shouldn’t stop people from living their lives.
“Life is a calculated risk,” Lefsky said while sitting on a Hingham Shipyard bench Friday afternoon with his two children.

There is no way of predicting a tragedy like this will ever occur, he said.
On Friday afternoon, movie goers crowded the Shipyard movie theater to see “The Dark Knight Rises” 1:40 p.m. showing.
The Shipyard movie theater was reached for comment Friday and referred Patch to the Patriot Cinemas' main office which has not returned calls to Patch.
The cinema had not announced if they will make any security changes as a result of the shooting.
