Traffic Stop by Hingham Fire Leads to Man Receiving Fourth OUI Charge

An erratic driver was arrested Sunday night thanks to the efforts of Hingham fire.
John Murphy, 60, of Cedarville, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor (fourth offense), operating negligently so as to endanger, and a marked lanes violation according to the Hingham Police Log.
At 6:54 p.m., members of Hingham fire reported an erratic operator heading towards Weymouth and allegedly crossing the yellow line. After pulling the vehicle over on Whiting Street, the driver was checked out by firefighters who described him as “a little confused.”

Despite Murphy’s attempt to contact a friend to pick up him up, Hingham police would later take the man into custody.
