Treeview Set to Kick off Christmas Weekend in Hingham Square
Hingham residents can get their first dibs on a beautiful Christmas tree at the first ever Treeview holiday party at the Old Derby Academy on Thursday night.
Hingham residents do not have to wait for the 9th annual Festive of the Trees to purchase their Christmas Tree this holiday season. Now they can purchase them a day before at a live and silent auction at the Old Derby Academy on Main Street.
The Hingham Mothers’ Club along with Hingham Newcomers has organized an auction where residents can purchase their choice of the best Christmas trees in town at a private cocktail party scheduled for Thursday night.
According to Hingham Mothers’ Club member Cindy Rosenfeld the private cocktail party, “Treeview” will give residents the first chance to purchase the Christmas tree of their choice at a live and silent auction. The event will kick of the 34th annual Christmas in the Square.

The ticket price includes open bar provided by Y+B Wine & Narragansett Brewing Company, savory hors d'oeuvres from Bare Cove Catering, desserts from Sadie Mae’s and live music from a five-piece band.
Rosenfeld said Thursday’s live and silent auctions will include trees that contain Red Sox tickets, $50 to Talbots, Patriot Cinema movie passes, and prizes such as Golf at Black Rock Country, a couples night out in Hingham Square, and a five course dinner with wine at Tosca.
According to Rosenfeld, donations are still being accepted and anyone can donate a tree, wreath, or gingerbread house. Several businesses, school organizations, and even playgroups have participated in the past and will do so again this year.
Proceeds for this year’s event will go to the Hingham Mother’s Club Scholarship and the Friend of the Homeless of the South Shore.
“Guests attending the Treeview party will have the opportunity to hear a representative from Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore speak about their current projects,” Rosenfeld said.
In addition to Treeview and Festival of Trees (which will be held Friday), Hingham Mothers’ Club is taking part in the Friends of the Homeless Christmas Project. HMC will host an Interfaith Holiday Party on December 6th at Old Ship Parish House for homeless families. Dinner, cookies, crafts and photos with Santa highlight this fun event!
There is also gift drive to benefit the homeless of the South Shore. HMC is looking for donors who would be willing to purchase gifts for those in need. Wish lists are provided for each gift recipient and donors purchase three gifts per person, totaling $60-$70. Wish lists often include toiletries, undergarments and warm clothes. This year, there are more Massachusetts children and families experiencing homelessness than ever before. If you would like to be part of this great project, or make a donation to Friends of the Homeless of the South Shore, please email hinghammc@gmail.com with the subject line “Friends of the Homeless”.
