Walden Psychiatric Associates Offering Free Presentation On Integrative Medicine to Treat Depression

Walden CMO to explain how integrative medicine can treat not only depression, but a variety of psychiatric disorders

HINGHAM, Mass., April 30, 2015 – Walden Psychiatric Associates announced today that it will provide a free presentation, “Integrative Medicine for Depression,” from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Black Rock Country Club, 155 Ward St.

James Greenblatt, M.D., chief medical officer of Walden Behavioral Care and Walden Psychiatric Associates, will discuss how integrative medicine can be used to treat not only depression, but other psychiatric disorders, including anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and eating disorders.

Integrative medicine focuses on the whole person and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches to achieve optimal health and recovery.

Dr. Greenblatt will discuss how genetic tests can be used to identify which medications will be most effective for an individual. He will also explain how to address nutritional deficiencies that prevent optimal health. By addressing nutritional deficiencies, according to Dr. Greenblatt, patients can also eliminate side effects of medications.

“Despite the dozens of antidepressants available, millions of people who seek treatment for depression often fail to find long-lasting relief from their symptoms,” according to Dr. Greenblatt. “An integrative approach can be more effective, as it combines different, complementary forms of treatment.”
