Young Hingham Cancer Patient Scores Hole in One at Fenway Park

A 5-year-old Hingham cancer patient got to show off his golfing skills at Fenway last week.

Hingham's Brendan Burnett took part in the Expect Miracles Foundation’s  Kids Golf Day at Fenway Park last Friday.

Burnett, a 5 year-old who suffers from Lymphoblastic leukemia, enjoyed a custom 9-hole mini golf course and interactive activity stations. 

Burnett and other children also got to participate in other activities, including a scavenger hunt, arts and crafts activities, a golf skills station, a baseball fast pitch machine and fun games with Wally the Green Monster before ending the day with a reception and speaking program on Fenway’s right field roof deck.

Expect Miracles Foundation advocates in the fight against cancer within the financial services industry, and has raised more than $10 million to date through its signature charity efforts and corporate campaigns. 

Burnett,  who lives in Hingham,  has also been named a Walk Hero for the 25th anniversary of the Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, which will be held in September.

As a Walk Hero, Brennan will inspire an expected 8,500 participants, who will walk up to 26.2 miles along the historic Boston Marathon route to raise money for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund.

Brennan was diagnosed with cancer in July 2012 and is being treated at Dana- Farber.
