1. There are 300 spots still open for the Sharon Timlin 5K to benefit research into ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, a fatal, degenerative, neuromuscular disease. The race and a fun day of activities begin at 8:30 a.m. at Hopkinton High School on Saturday, June 18. No race-day registration. Registration closes on June 14. There are 75 spots left for the 1-mile race for 8 to 10 year olds. There are other races and activities for younger children. Fees, which benefit a great cause, start at $25, including a T-shirt, and decline for children, who also get shirts. This event is sponsored by the Hopkinton Running Club. Sharon Timlin, who died of ALS, was the mother of retired Red Sox pitcher Mike Timlin. Register today!

Very busy day in Hopkinton Schools today. First Grade Step-Up Day to Elmwood School, Hopkinton High SchoolSenior Recognition Night, the Grade 10 MCAS test for Biology is today, the Hopkinton Middle School Book Fair continues, the Center School Art Show & Book Fair is today and it is Hopkinton Middle School Drama Club Epic Movie Night.

4. The Hopkinton Board of Health meets tonight at 7 in Room 211 at Town Hall.

5. One police note. A single-car rollover on dangerous and winding Spring Street yesterday morning appears to be the result of the driver's medical condition, Hopkinton Police spokesperson Lt. Charles Wallace said yesterday. Wallace said neither speed nor other factors, except the driver's medical status, appear to have been a factor. The car rolled, Wallace said, because Spring Street slopes sharply at its edges, and after the vehicle sheared off a fire hydrant on the road's shoulder, the car continued up the slope causing it to roll. The driver, who was temporarily trapped in the car, was taken to Milford Medical Center. The accident, just past 9 a.m., was unrelated to Wednesday's p.m. wild weather.
