5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 24

Senior Center will be closed week of July 4.

1. The Hopkinton Senior Center will be closed the week of July 4 to July 8. It is the center's semiannual housekeeping week and lets volunteers have a bit of freedom during the summer. Outreach and some transportation services will be available. Call the Senior Center 508-497-9730.

2. July 14, from 9:30 to noon, seniors are welcome to meet neighbors from Holliston, Ashland and Southborough and join in socializing and games. Bocce, ping pong, pool (billiards) Wii, chair volleyball, cards and board games. Let the Senior Center, 28 Mayhew St., know you're coming.

3. Tonight, 8:30 (check the forecast!) on the Town Common, Despicable Me is an animated comedy about Gru, an aging supervillain, losing his No. 1 evildoer rating to Vector, a young upstart. Facing banks unwilling to finance his second-rate evil, Gru rushes his plans to steal the moon, and faces the law of unintended consequences. Who would think adopting three orphan girls would prove more shattering than stealing the moon?
