5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 27

Hopkinton Library has two new passes for nearby attractions.

1. The Friends of the Library have provided the Hopkinton Public Library with two new passes to nearby attractions and museums. The new passes are for Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston and Lookout Farm in South Natick. These two passes are in addition to 17 other passes donated by various groups which allow Hopkinton residents to attend zoos, museums, gardens, the New England Aquarium or Worcester Ecotarium free or at discounted admission. Rules and more information about the passes, including a way to reserve them online by date or attraction, are here. If you have questions, you can also call the library circulation desk at 508.497.9777.

2. The library will be closed Saturdays starting this Saturday, July 2, and will re-open on Saturdays Sept. 10, the week after Labor Day weekend.

3. The 2nd Annual Hopkinton High Golf Tournament to raise money for the Hopkinton Golf Team will take place Monday, Aug. 15, at noon at Shining Rock Golf Club in Northbridge. Coach Dick Bliss said last year's tournament provided the team with money for two sets of new shirts, 15 golf bags, money toward the end-of-the-year banquet and helped pay greens fees for team practices. The cost is $500 for a foursome, $125 for an individual and $100 to sponsor a hole. "If you can help our team in any way, it would be greatly appreciated," Bliss said. Bliss can be contacted at 508.898.9324 or 508.612.9324 (cell) or by email at bliss134@verizon.net. 5. Besides the Permanent Building Committee meeting tonight at 7:30 in The Fire Station training room, 73 Main St., the Parks and Recreation Commission meets at 7 in the lower level, Town Hall, 18 Main St.  and the Conservation Commission will meet at 7:30 in Room 216 at Town Hall.
