1. A delegation from Xiamen, China, visits Hopkinton today.

2. Of all the things that happened at Tuesday night's selectmen's meeting, one of the most interesting was a passing remark by the DPW that East Main Street is going to be dug up this fall to have the water main replaced.

The Downtown Initiative Steering Committee meets tonight at 7 in the Fire Station Training Room, 73 Main St. The committee's charge is to improve the area from Ash and East Main streets to Wood and West Main Streets. Traffic, of course, is the big issue. Stop by, see what's happening, and make your thoughts on that area known.
