5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 8

1. PlayTown Express will remain open today, June 8, until 4 (rather than 1:30).

2. Today is Grade 3 and Grade 4 Step Up Day! Congratulations to all those children advancing in their education. It's exciting! The Middle School Eighth Grade Trip continues in Washington, D.C.  - maybe they can offer our leaders some advice. Watch out for those congressmen kids! Today is also the Hopkins and Elmwood schools Book Fair (two separate events) the Grade 4 Field Day (drink water!) Elmwood DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Dive into a Good Book Day, the Grade 3 Student Showcases this evening from 6:30 to 7:30 and at the Middle School auditorium at 7, the Sixth Grade Concert.

3.The Hopkinton Girls lacrosse team fell behind Ashland early yesterday but kicked into gear for a 21-11 win. Duxbury will come to Hopkinton for the sectional championship game Friday. This will be the fifth straight year Hopkinton has played Duxbury, which has taken the title the last four years. Thursday, at 3:30, Girls Varsity Tennis is in the Division 2 South Semi-Finals at Scituate, and in Taunton at 5, it'sthe D2-South Softball Semi-Finals vs. Fairhaven at Taunton.

4. Join Hopkinton Cub Scouts. will be held on Thursday, June 9 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at St John's Church Hall, 20 Church St., for boys entering grades 1 to 5 in fall 2011. Parents and boys: Come learn about the fun and benefits of Cub Scouting. All three Hopkinton Cub Scout Packs will be represented. Click the link for details!
