Wander through working artist studios inside a historic shoe factory, meet the makers, and enjoy live music, bites, and beverages along the way. Saturday and Sunday, 11 to 4, at 24 Water Street. Bring a friend and maybe start your holiday shopping early. Family friendly, free parking (but sorry, no elevators).

Hopkinton Center for the Arts

Designed for adults with a foundation in drawing, this intensive 4-hour workshop takes you through the process of creating a two-page comic book spread from start to finish.
Begin with a character warm-up and an introduction to 1-, 2-, and 3-point perspective. Then, using an open-ended story prompt, explore storyboarding, pacing, panel composition, perspective, value, tone, and storytelling techniques as you bring your character to life.
Work with traditional comic-making tools, including non-photo blue pencils, dip-ink pens, Microns, and Bristol board. By completing a short “slice of life” story arc, you’ll gain the skills and confidence to tackle your own comics or graphic novel ideas.
Materials: All supplies are provided by HCA, or you’re welcome to bring your own. A suggested supply list is available below.

Ayana Mack will walk visitors through her vibrant, multi-layered work that evokes transformation and possibility.&nbsp; Learn how she fearlessly pairs exuberant, high-saturation color with mixed-media elements—including integrated poetic text—while keeping her compositions structurally grounded and deeply expressive.
Ayana's work is part of the exhibition "Creating Through It" curated&nbsp; by the HCA’s 2026 Curator Fellow, Jamaal Bonnette.&nbsp; The exhibition focuses on using creativity to express those emotions that often overwhelm us.&nbsp;&nbsp; Ayana Mack is a Boston-based multidisciplinary artist, muralist, and creative storyteller whose work uses public art as a catalyst for healing, joy, and community connection.&nbsp; Her artwork creates space for reflection, affirmation, and collective care.

This is an all-levels drawing workshop from live models for teens. This course focuses on observing and translating the human form onto paper. Learning to capture proportions, gesture, and volume, as well as relevant terms, such as contrapposto, is included in this course. Students will learn how to sight and measure with a sighting stick/straightedge. We will have dynamic poses to learn the art of gesture drawing, with longer poses to work on detailed rendering.
Materials: All supplies included in tuition.
