Gwendolyn the Graceful Pig Dances at the Holliston Library
Enjoy a perfect day of ballet fun for the budding dancers and story lovers in your family on Saturday, September 29th at 11:00 AM when ballerinas from the Dancing Arts Center take center stage at the Holliston Public Library. Author David Ira Rottenberg will read his picture book, Gwendolyn, the Graceful Pig, while the dancers perform the story. As an added treat, a mini-movement lesson will be offered to the children in the audience after the performance and Rottenberg will sign copies of his book.
Gwendolyn, the Graceful Pig tells the tale of Gwendolyn and Omar – two best friends who have big dreams. Gwendolyn longs to dance ballet and Omar wants to join the football team. There is just one problem – they are both pigs!

Picture book author, David Rottenberg, contacted Dancing Arts Center’s Artistic Director, Karyn Edison, about offering the event in local libraries and Ms. Edison was immediately enthusiastic. She says, “The piece allows our lovely young dancers to collaborate with an artist in another genre and share both dance and a love of reading with young people. We are particularly pleased to be performing in the library in Holliston as our studio is located here.”
Edison hopes that the Dancing Arts Center will do more performances of Gwendolyn, the Graceful Pig. “We enjoy sharing our love for the arts and hope to continue with more outreach programs of this nature.”
