Holliston Fire Rescues Horse Trapped in Trailer After Crash

A Holliston resident called needing help freeing a horse that was trapped in a vehicle after an accident.

HOLLISTON, MA—Holliston firefighters were called to assist with an unusual request this week.

Around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, Holliston Fire Department received a request from an Adams Street resident asking to help a horse from a trailer that had been involved in an earlier motor vehicle crash on the highway.

Chief Cassidy, Deputy Moore and Rescue 1 responded, finding that the ramp to the trailer had been pushed in by a semi truck. Using a combination of hand tools and the HURST Jaws of Life, they gained quick and safe access to the horse.
