Hopkinton by the Numbers: June 1

1942 - Year Dick Pockwinse's military Jeep was made. The jeep was used in Europe in WWII. Bought post-war by a chicken farmer at auction at Fort Devens, it was painted yellow and used to transport eggs. The bouncy ride proved a poor conveyance for fragile eggs, so it was relegated to a barn. Pockwinse bought it and restored it.

8 - Number of members on Hopkinton's Veteran's Celebration Committee. The committee organizes Memorial Day events and other activities honoring veterans: Ray Gendreau, Mike Whalen, Colleen Charleston, Jim Mirabile, Nancy Drawe, Judi Murphy, and town liasions Ben Palleiko and Cindy Chesmore.
