Hopkinton Girl One Of Six Hospitalized After Holy Cross Crash

Anne Comcowich of Hopkinton was one of six who remained hospitalized in Florida following the tragic Holy Cross crash.

WORCESTER, MA — Holy Cross said Friday afternoon that several students were still hospitalized following the deadly crash. Six from Holy Cross — five students, including Anne Comcowich of Hopkinton and a coach — were still hospitalized in Florida. However, a student-rower has been released.

Anne Comcowich of Hopkinton remains in the hospital, officials did not release what injuries she suffers from.

The crash which killed sophomore Grace Rett, 20.

The other students and staff in the hospital were identified as Paige Cohen (Atlanta, Ga.), Maggie O'Leary (Waterbury, Conn.), Bianca McIver (Scarsdale, NY), Hannah Strom (Marion) and coach Patrick Diggins.

Megan Moriarty, a senior, was injured in Wednesday's crash but left Lawnwood Regional Medical Center on Thursday night.

The Holy Cross rowers were traveling to a training practice in Vero Beach on Wednesday when their van collided with a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup was also still hospitalized as of Friday.

Holy Cross was set to resume classes on Tuesday after winter break — and those plans were still on track, the college said on Friday.

"The strength of the Holy Cross community is never more evident than in times of grief and sadness. The support, care, and prayers from the Holy Cross family and friends from across the country have been tremendous. We are also blessed and humbled by the outpouring of support from colleges and universities across the country, the rowing community, and the extraordinary residents and organizations in Vero Beach," Holy Cross President the Rev. Philip Boroughs said in an email to the campus sent on Thursday.
