Hopkinton Hero: Bus Driver Debbie Guertin

It was so cool to start riding the bus in second grade at Elmwood School. My brother and sister and I were the last ones to be picked up and the first ones to be dropped off.

At Hopkins School, the bus ride is a lot longer than before. Debbie the bus driver makes the ride nicer by giving me books to read and toys to play with. They help me have some fun and follow my bus rules. I need to follow my bus rules to be safe.

I get trade-in minutes for following my bus rules in the morning. I use them to get computer time or play with Legos.

Debbie gives me Wii video-game cards when I follow my bus rules on the ride home.

Debbie also helps me when I get upset on the bus, like when I didn’t like the noise of the windshield wipers or when the zipper was stuck on my jacket.

Debbie works with my teacher Mrs. Keller and my boss Ms. Bresciani and my mom.

My mom says that Debbie goes above and beyond what a bus driver has to do to make my ride safe and easy. I think Debbie’s a hero because she’s the most wonderful bus driver ever. She looks out for me, she treats me special, and she’s so awesome.
