Hopkinton Memorial Day at Evergreen Cemetery
The first stop to honor veterans during Memorial Day activities was on Wood Street
About 100 people turned out in a light rain for the first of a series of Memorial Day activities honoring Hopkinton's veterans.
A Cub Scout placed a wreath on the memorial at the cemetery's entrance. Taps was played by Hopkinton High students Ryan Webster and Sara Ottomano.
Other students read mving historic passages including President Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

A rifle guard of Hopkinton police fired a slute to the veterans.
The veterans and onlookers then moved on to the downtown cemeteries and a parade scheduled to start at 11:15 and conclude with speeches and honors at Hopkinton Town Common.
