Hopkinton Lumber : A Community Resource

Patch recently had a brief chat with the assistant office manager of Hopkinton Lumber and learned about their thoughts and feelings on downtown.

is a small town store that offers everything needed for the home. They cater to both contractors and homeowners and they believe that giving back to the community is what keeps Hopkinton humming.

Located at 118 Main Street, Hopkinton Lumber is beside the and near the Michael Lisnow Respite Center. They believe strongly in the community and helping others out.

"We employ a young man from the respite center,“ Assistant Office Manager Nancy Rhodes said. “We try to support the local community as much as we can. We do what we can to help others."

Hopkinton Lumber, unlike some other downtown businesses, is feeling positive about the direction that the downtown initiative steering committee is heading.

“I don’t live in town so I don’t follow it that closely,” Rhodes said. “But I do think they are going in the right direction and I feel the changes they are looking to make, if they affect us at all, will affect us positively.”

Hopkinton Lumber has been in town for nearly 15 years, and Rhodes is continually amazed that people in town are unaware of their existence.

“We don’t do a lot of advertising,” Rhodes said. “We rely on word of mouth and happy people to spread the word about us.”

Rhodes said she is also amazed that almost everyday someone comes in astounded at all they have to offer.

“We have everything," Rhodes said. “Pet leashes and treats, hardware, a full line of Benjamin Moore paint, seeds, mulch, lumber and much more.”

Hopkinton Lumber can also make extra keys for you, so you never find yourself on the wrong side of a locked door without a backup again.

They also display photos of their early days on their walls; a few of which have been featured on this site.

Hopkinton Lumber is open M - F, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sat. 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They are closed on Marathon Monday and most major holidays.
