Hopkinton Police Log: Wheels edition

June 14, 11:42 a.m.

Caller reports a driver hit a parked car at a West Main St. business. Officer O'Brien responded but the driver had taken off. The witness didn't get the license plate.

1:49 p.m. A police department in Tennessee said a car reistered to a Hopkinton owner was involved in a hit and run in their town. The car was not operated by the registered owner, who lives on Ash Street. Officer Shane called the owner and advised him to call the Tennessee police.

June 15, 3:23 a.m.

A caller reported kids riding bicycles on the Town Common. Officer Moran and Sgt. vanRaalten checked, but found no kids. They took a skateboard and bike to the station for safekeeping.

11:33 a.m. A caller reported two skateboarders skating in the middle of East Main Street ignoring traffic. Officer Buckley checked the area but could not find them.

12:25 p.m. A female caller walking in the Valleywood Road area said a man in a mosquito-spraying truck was looking at her in a way that made her uncomfortable. Officer McNeil found the truck a few streets away and spoke to the driver.

1 p.m. Officer McNeil found three skateboarders on Ash Street and talked to them about riding in the middle of the road.

5:10 p.m. Officer Booth came across an open storm drain on Parkwood Drive, a severe danger to vehicles and people. Sgt. Sutton brought orange cones to the scene and police blocked off the hazard and notified the DPW.

6:17 p.m. A West Main Street motorist who ran out of gas called unable to get gas out of a portable gas can. Sgt. Sutton helped.

8:17 A motorist reported two motorcycles on Hayden Rowe Street doing wheelies toward the Milford line. Officer Gorman notified Milfird PD.

11:40 A Lake Shore Drive caller said a car speeds past as she is walking her dog and she is concerned for her safety. She said she will start calling when the incidents happen rather than waiting to get home.
