Hopkinton Police Responded To Over 1,000 Calls In December

The department reported nine arrests in the month.

HOPKINTON, MA — Hopkinton police are starting the new month out by looking over their work in December. According to the department, Hopkinton police received 1,160 calls for service in December.

Calls ranged from crime reports to medical emergencies, police said. While the department phone was busy, December resulted in nine arrests. In an announcement on Facebook, the department broke down what kinds of arrests were made out of the nine. Two arrests resulted in charges for heroin possession, two other arrests resulted in charges for drunken driving, two more for unlicensed driving and one warrant arrest.

The department doesn't publish information on arrests involving minors or family matters.

Hopkinton's K9 officer Titan also had a busy month. Officer Sanchioni and K9 Titan were called to seven incidents. Titan was praised for two incidents in particular, after he sniffed out a domestic assault suspect and an intoxicated woman on separate occasions.

Traffic stops seemed to be the most common action taken by officers last month. The department reported conducting 167 motor vehicle stops as well as responding to 40 crashes.

There is only one active investigation open from December.
