Flexibility is the key to student success at Middlesex Community College. Whether students are the first in their family to attend college, adult learners returning to school after a break, recently graduated from high school and looking to transition into college, or hoping to update skills for a career – Middlesex makes the process of starting an education easy.

While Middlesex understands students have to balance their studies with work, family and personal responsibilities, MCC also knows the importance of starting or continuing an education.
Featuring on campus, online and hybrid course formats – as well as academic, career and transfer advising – MCC’s Fall 2021 semester makes getting an education more accessible for students.

“The Office of Academic and Transfer Advising at Middlesex works with each student on a personal level to make a plan for their time at the college and after they graduate,” said Dr. Winny Oyamo-Twombly, MCC’s Assistant Director of Pathway & Academic Advising. “We connect our students to the resources and support services that will be most beneficial for them, as well as provide them with guidance to help them stay on track with their programs, reach their goals and propel them to successful futures.”

Having an assigned advisor helps students navigate their time at the college. This guidance includes understanding how to register for courses, see their schedule, add or drop classes, view grades, access support services, meet goals, plan for graduation, transfer credits to a four-year school, search for jobs or internships, and participate in on campus activities.

Advisors also lay out the courses students need to take for their degree or certificate with MCC’s seven guided pathway programs – Arts & Humanities; Business; Education; Health; Public Service; Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Social Science.

Pathway programs help students throughout their time at Middlesex stay organized, have an idea of their future academic and professional options, and offer tips and reminders for successful completion of their program.

At Middlesex, students can complete their degree even faster by taking the college’s Mini-mesters. The accelerated eight-week sessions provide the same content, academic standards and number of instructional hours as courses scheduled in the traditional 15-week semester. Students can complete their general requirements, while earning transferable credits and exploring a variety of topics and subjects that interest them.

To help students pay for college, MCC has frozen tuition and fees for the Fall 2021 semester. Middlesex also offers payment options and plans, financial aid, scholarships and financial wellness counseling. Completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) sets up students for financial success – students often qualify for more than they think.
