The Holliston Youth Lacrosse Association is kicking off its new season with its first scholarship. It will go to two student-athletes (one girl, one boy) to help fund their future academic education.
To be eligible, applicants must be a graduating senior, pursuing higher education, and must have participated in the Holliston Youth Lacrosse program.
Factors considered in awarding the scholarships include academic performance, good sportsmanship, participation in extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
"The scholarship is the association's way of giving back," said Greg Stebbins, president of HYLA. "It's also our way of demonstrating our values as an organization. The amount hasn't been set, but we expect it to be $750 for each of the two scholarships."
Deadline for submissions is April 30, 2014. The application is available for download on the website at http://holliston.lacrossesystems2.com/.
