UPDATED: Kids Struck in Hopkinton Crosswalk, Mom Calls Police for Help

Breaking: An apparently serious crash has occurred in Hopkinton, where children were hit in a crosswalk.

HOPKINTON, MA—Hopkinton police are investigating an accident that happened late Monday morning, when a mother called to report that a vehicle had struck her children in the area near 112 Hayden Rowe St. in Hopkinton.

At 10:03 a.m., police received multiple calls reporting the crash, with one of the callers a mother reporting her children had been struck by a vehicle while she was pushing the stroller across the street. She also said that her son was bleeding from his head.

Multiple crews responded, and found everyone involved conscious and alert, said police. The mother who was from Hopkinton and her children were transported to the hospital as well the operator of the vehicle that struck the rear of the lead car.

Preliminary investigation and witness statements have revealed that a 61-year-old female operator from Hopedale traveling Northbound stopped to let a mother and three children cross within a crosswalk from the East. Police say it appears that it is then that the lead vehicle was struck in the rear by a 32-year-old Milford man traveling northbound as well. The female operator's car was then propelled off the roadway. The vehicle operated by the Milford man then continued on and struck the stroller, according to witness statements..

The Hopkinton Police Department is working with the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team on this investigation. The Middlesex District Attorney's Office has been contacted and an Assistant District Attorney has been assigned.
