Police News: Loud explosion? Two Tires At Once

9 a.m., a Smith Road caller said two solicitors, only one of whom had registered with the police, were going door to door. Officer Shane looked for the pair to ask why only one had registered but could not find them.

Around 4 p.m., a 911 caller was worried about what appeared to be a developmentally challenged person walking on Winter Street, which is narrow with lots of blind curves. Officer O'Neill checked but could not find the person.

At 4:45, Officer Shane cchecked the report of a loud explosion on Wood Street. He found a Harvey's waste and recycling industries truck which had blown two tires.

6:22 and modern communications comes through. Officer Burchard was helping two drivers with the exchange of paperwork following a minor accident when he discovered that one driver's license had expired. Through Burchard, the driver was able to renew his license at the scene. That same driver received a written warning from Burchard for following too close.

8:50 p.m. A caller reported two owls had been hit on Ash Street. One was still alive. Animal Control Officer Bill Proctor was tied up at the time.

May 27, midnight

Officer Higgins removed tree limbs downed in the storm that were causing a driving hazard on the West Main Street causeway.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., Officer Higgins picked up two people walking on West Main Street and took them to a Lumber Street address.

About the same time, Officer Moran and Sgt. vanRaalten took one person into protective custody on East Main Street.

8:34 a.m. A caller rported a landscape truck was dumping mulch all over the road on Main and East Main streets. Officers Griffin and Thomas found the truck on Grove Street and told the driver to go back and clean it up.

3:48 p.m. Officers O'Neil and Burchard checked a report of a BB gun hole found in a window on Summer Street. They determined that it had occurred in the past.

6:22 Officers O'Neil and Burchard went to a Wood Street address for a report of a past assault.

6:40 Officer Booth assisted Hopkinton Fire putting out a small camp fire on College Street.

10 p.m. Neighbors called to report a barking dog on Hillcrest Drive. The dog had stopped barking when Officer Booth arrived.

10:14 A caller to the station said vehicles were gathering on Greenwood Road near the soccer fields. Officer O'eil checked and found one vehicle with no one in it.
