Police News: More Car Break-ins

Thursday, June 30, 3:06 a.m.

Two contractors for Verizon were working on South Street in the early morninghours. Officer Campbell checked on them.

3:33 a.m. - A party was making a delivery at DPW headquarters on Fruit Street, also in the very early hours. Officer Campbell also checked there and found things OK.

8:25 a.m. - More reports of overnight vehicle break-ins, a problem that has occurred all week.

1:35 p.m. - Officer Griffin came across a work crew on Main Street taking up an entire lane of traffic without a detail officer. He advised them they need to have a police officer present.

5:23 - Ashland Police asked Hopkinton officers to be on the lookout for a vehicle. Officers Higgins and O'Neil found the vehicle on Hayden Rowe Street and escorted it back to the Ashland town line.

8:58 p.m. - A caller said kids had started a fire in a cul-de-sac on Ridge Road where a new house is being built. Firefighters put the fire out. Officers Higgins, O'Neil and Burchard searched for the firestarters but didn't find anyone.
