Register For Summer Academic Programs at The Rivers School!
There are still open spots in the Writing Workshop, Exploring Mathematics, and Foundations of Algebra I courses.

The Rivers School is excited to offer a variety of Summer Academic Programs that will engage students with new material, challenge them to think critically, and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Writing Workshop, June 26 – July 7
9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Open to students entering Grades 6-9
Taught by members of Rivers’ English Department, this intensive two-week workshop gives students the opportunity to explore different styles of writing in order to develop a unique voice. By immersing themselves in an environment that stimulates their imagination, strengthens their skills, and challenges them to think critically about their writing, students emerge from the Writing Workshop armed with the skills they need to tackle the upcoming year’s challenges. Cost: $1,200 (includes lunch and materials)

Exploring Mathematics, August 14-18
9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Open to students entering Grades 6-8
Taught by members of the Rivers Middle School Math Department, this class offers students the opportunity to apply math skills to real-world problems. Students who sign up for this class will select a problem that they find interesting, then gather and analyze data to reach conclusions about that problem. Topics taught in this course focus of teaching and mastering pre-algebraic and algebraic skills in a hands-on, practical environment. Cost: $850

Foundations of Algebra I, August 21-25
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Open to students entering Grades 8 and 9
Taught by members of the Rivers Math Department, this course will tackle the critical skills and concepts necessary for students preparing to take Geometry, Algebra II, Chemistry, and Physics. Classes will consist of short lectures, creating more opportunity for hands-on practice and problem-solving activities. Cost: $450
