RI Man Charged With 2011 Hopkinton Home Invasion
The man was wanted since 2011 when police said he and two other men committed a home invasion in Hopkinton.
HOPKINTON, MA — A Rhode Island man who had been wanted in Hopkinton for almost ten years was arrested on Friday. Carlos Ortiz of Woonsocket, RI was wanted for his part in a 2011 home invasion in Hopkinton.
Ortiz was arrested on Sunday in Rhode Island on an outstanding warrant and taken to the Adult Correctional Facility in Cranston where he was held as a fugitive from justice. Ortiz and two others were indicted in the Middlesex Superior Court after a Grand Jury hearing in 2012.
He was charged with conspiracy to commit home invasion and home invasion.

In 2016 an arrest warrant was issued — he was finally arrested on Sunday. The other two men in the case were arrested and convicted in 2016.
Ortiz waived his rights to extradition and was taken to the Hopkinton Police Department on Thursday. A video conference arraignment was held at the police station and Ortiz was ordered held without bail and taken to the Billerica House of Corrections.
