'Senior Assassination Game' Lands Teens In Wrong Home In Hopkinton

An elderly woman got a scare, and police got a 911 call, after teens hit the wrong home with squirt guns as part of an annual senior game.

HOPKINTON, MA—An elderly woman got a scare, but didn't press charges, when three seniors from the high school burst into her home with squirt guns. It was the wrong home.

On Sunday afternoon, the woman called 911 to report that an armed man ran into her garage and she had trapped him into the garage, when he reportedly got the automatic door opener and fled, according to MassLive.

Hopkinton PD's School Officer Phil Powers sent a letter to parents explaining that the incident was related to a game called "senior assassination," which is a water-gun battle between high school students. According to MassLive, as a result of a man fleeing the elderly woman's home, police stopped a truck nearby and found a large water gun in the car. Police had their guns drawn at the truck on Canterbury Lane, which had three teens inside.

School officials and police are reportedly "furious" over the unsanctioned game, according to MetroWest Daily News, and that the elderly woman in her 70s, who lives alone on Pond Street, was terrified she was being robbed. The woman did not press charges.

Last month, Sharon police even sent out an alert to the community that the town's high school senior assassination game was beginning, where "they squirt each other with water type guns, thus eliminating that person from the game" and that "this event is not condoned by police."

Several police departments are getting reports of "suspicious persons," which turn out to be students participating in the game.
