Troopers Arrest 2 Driving for Stealing Car, Having Drugs, During Blizzard

State police spotted the stolen car in Hopkinton, MA, behind a procession of plows. The car was allegedly stolen, and drugs were found.

Two Worcester, MA, men are facing charges for stealing a car and possessing drugs after they were pulled over by State Police during the blizzard this week.

On Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 5:15 p.m., police were alerted that a 2008 Toyota SUV had been stolen out of Lowell.

With a travel ban in effect, very few cars were on the highways, including Route 295 in Hopkinton, where Trooper Greg Doherty spotted the allegedly-stolen vehicle going slowly southbound behind a procession of plows.

Several officers working storm patrol assisted Doherty, who pulled the vehicle over. Police found what they believed to be heroin in the car, as well.The driver, Andrew J. Cormier, 27, and Shaun A. Janson, 22, both of Worcester, were arrested.

Cormier faces charges of violating regulations for a state of emergency, possession of a Class A narcotic, using a motor vehicle without authority, receiving stolen property and operating a vehicle with a revoked license. Janson is charged with violating regulations for a state of emergency, possession of class A narcotic, and receiving stolen property.

Both will be arraigned in Framingham District Court on Thursday morning.
