At it, the MetroWest Chamber of Commerce is welcoming keynote speaker Karen Spilka, chair of the Senate Ways and Means, to speak about the state budget and how it impacts the regional economy.

Senator Spilka represents the 2nd Middlesex and Norfolk district, which includes the towns of Ashland, Framingham, Franklin, Holliston, Hopkinton, Medway and Natick and has recently been named to the role of Chair of Senate Ways and Means, which oversees the budget and finances of the Commonwealth. Senator Spilka is also Senate Chair of the MetroWest Legislative Caucus, the Biotech Caucus and the Tech Hub Caucus.

Spilka’s legislative accomplishments, according to a press release, include efforts in a broad range of areas including economic development, jobs creation, education, women’s health and equality, juvenile justice and services for the elderly and disabled communities.
