📰 News we're reading

• HRA's new summer parking vendors include son of 2025 lessee being sued for nonpayment (hulltimes.com) — Hull’s Redevelopment Authority has chosen new vendors to run its key summer parking lots on Water Street and Hull Shore Drive, while last year’s operator faces an unresolved lawsuit over alleged nonpayment and contract violations. The 2026 leases split the property into two areas, emphasize electronic payment and business partnerships, and keep the main lot open for events and potential future public safety use.

• Allerton developer reduces parking, modifies design in response to neighbors' input (hulltimes.com) — A major redevelopment at the former Lighthouse Restaurant/Sunset Marine site on Nantasket Avenue in Hull has been revised after strong neighbor feedback. The developer cut parking, reworked traffic flow, and altered the cottage-style design while keeping public waterfront access, pavilion space, and a boardwalk central to the plan. The hearing continues April 22 via Zoom, with a draft decision expected.

• Light board tables vote on resolution opposing move to DPW site at West Corner (hulltimes.com) — Hull’s Municipal Light Board has delayed a vote on Commissioner Jake Vaillancourt’s resolution opposing moving the light plant from 15 Edgewater Road to a joint facility with the DPW at 9 Nantasket Avenue. Members want more time and legal input before deciding whether to formally challenge the town’s grant-funded consolidation plans, which could affect future facilities and state relationships.
