Much Music, Economic Justice & Trading Time

It's Thursday again, and if you've still got no idea what to do this weekend, our new Thursday feature, "Get Out" has ideas for stuff to do and places to go.

Why go? The Taylor House Concert Series continues tonight with the John Funkhouser Trio.  The group performs a variety of musical styles including modern jazz, blues, funk, classical, and folk.  The concert is followed by an elegant wine and dessert reception.

Where: , 284 Amory Street

When:  Friday, 9 p.m.

Pricing:  $5

Why go? If wanna get your groove on another way, the band Hipsocket performs the music of Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, and other soul artists.

Where: , 45 Danforth Street

When:  Saturday, 8 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.

Pricing:  $10-$20 (Sliding Scale)

Why go? Events in Wisconsin or closer to home have you troubled?  The Boston Workmen’s Circle, Keshet and Moishe/Kavod Jewish Social Justice House, sponsor this party for economic justice with a cash bar, DJ Annie R U Ok, and a live music performances by Bloco AfroBrazil.

Where: , 5 McBride Street

When:  Sunday, 1 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Pricing:  $10

Why go? This is a fundraiser for a planned JP Music Festival. The silent auction and raffle will contain items like jewelry, pottery, hand-blown glass, photography, spa and dining packages.  Organizers say the location and date of the festival will be announced April 25 at the next benefit at the .

Where: , 6 Eliot Street

When:  Sunday, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Pricing:  Free

Why go?  There are more than 700 members in the local Time Trade Circle.   Members of the organization maintain a a bank account of time, and exchange services with other members.   Following the meeting, which is co-sponsored by the Jamaica Plain New Economy Transition, there will be a potluck  at 5 p.m.  (Please bring a dish to share if you wish to stay for the potluck.)
