Gertrude Hazel (Dwinell) Swanson formerly of JP Dies at Age 89

Avid reader died peacefully with her daughters at her side.

Gertrude Hazel (Dwinell) Swanson of Needham, formerly of Jamaica Plain and Dracut, died peacefully January 29 at the Briarwood Healthcare Center in Needham with her daughters at her side.  Mrs. Swanson was the beloved wife of the late Nils Malkolm Swanson. She was 89.

Mrs. Swanson was the only daughter of Ira A. and Florence H. (Eklund) Dwinell. She was born and raised in Dracut, graduating from Dracut High School in 1940.

Mrs. Swanson was an avid reader and letter writer. She never failed to read the daily newspaper and made great effort to keep in contact with her friends and family with frequent written correspondance. Mrs. Swanson was also known for cats – she loved her cats.

Mrs. Swanson was the beloved wife of the late Nils Malkolm Swanson, and the sister of the late Frederick C. Dwinell. She was the loving mother of Carla M. Reveliotty, and her husband Michael C., of Dover, and Christina F. Ilsley, and her husband Stephen R., of West Roxbury. She was the dear grandmother of Alex Reveliotty of Los Angeles, CA, and Graham and Christian Ilsley, both of West Roxbury.

Mrs. Swanson’s family is grateful for the compassionate and loving care she received from the staff at Briarwood. They also appreciate the many new friends made while Gertrude resided at Briarwood Healthcare in Needham. They are most grateful.

According to Mrs. Swanson’s wishes, a memorial service will be held in the spring when the lilacs are in bloom.  Funereal services are being provided by Folsom Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery in Littleton, Masachusetts.

En lieu of flowers donations to the MSPCA/Angell Memorial, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA, 02130, would be appreciated.
