Ivan Update: Cat With Malformed Legs Now Has More Than 450 Inquires For Adoption
No one wanted to see Ivan for two weeks. Now 450 people are interested. The MSPCA will take applications through Saturday.
JAMAICA PLAIN, MA — Before a plea was issued, Ivan the cat sat in the shelter without a single inquiry for adoption. With a shoutout through the media, the MSPCA's shelter in Jamaica Plain has now received more than 450 inquires for Ivan within 24 hours, according to MSPCA spokesperson Rob Halpin.
The adorable ten-month-old tuxedo cat was passed over because of a handicap. The super-social ten-month-old cat cannot walk properly because he's got malformed legs. It was because of his malformed legs that Ivan's previous owner surrendered him.
MSPCA-Angell adoption center manager Alyssa Krieger believes Ivan is just as deserving as any other cat, however. Ivan loves to be held and petted. "What Ivan lacks in mobility he more than makes up for in personality," she said in a statement.

The adoption center is encouraging everyone to come in during open hours before end of day on Saturday to fill out an application and meet him in person. They will then select the adopter who’s home environment best fits his needs, said Halpin, who added, "my assessment is that he’ll likely be in his forever home come Monday."
