The City Council approved the new designation for Centre Street between Hyde and Jackson squares at a meeting Wednesday.

JAMAICA PLAIN, MA - Say hello to Boston's newest neighborhood - the Latin Quarter.
In a unanimous vote Wednesday, city councilors decided on the official moniker for the Centre Street region between Hyde and Jackson squares, Universal Hub reported.
District 6 City Councilor Matt O'Malley proposed the official designation in February to honor the area's predominantly Latino population.
