Police Seize Weapons After Breaking Up Brawl in Jamaica Plain
Officers responded to 284 Centre Street Thursday night and arrested two men.

Boston police officers recovered a handgun and knife from two separate suspects after breaking up a large fight in the city’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood Thursday night.
Officers responded to 284 Centre Street around 7:30 p.m. after hearing reports of several individuals fighting in the area, officials say.
Upon arriving at the scene, some of the combatants begin to disperse, however two men refused to stop fighting. One of the suspects attempted to flee the scene as officers approached.

According to police, one suspect passed the second suspect a handgun. When an officer noticed the act, the suspect fled. After a brief struggle, the suspect was subdued.
Pursuing officers arrested both 22-year-old Gerkiale Williams and 54-year-old James Lewis. The men were also found to be in possession of a pocket knife.

Williams was charged with unlawfully carrying a firearm, resisting arrest and affray. Police say Williams was also wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.
Lewis was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and affray.
Both suspects will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
